Meetings are so very important and these days they happen more on phone than face to face. A pretty name for this phenomenon is Concall... wow conference call. What would be the case if there were no bridge systems available to gang up many a people on a concall, i often think.
Its often that you hear "You are the first person on the call", heheh that gives a consolation that, Yes you are punctual.. think of it may be the other person[s] were late than you :) but you were'nt on time either.
Another aspect to this, is fearless expression of thought, since you arent facing the person either ways, so you might as well state what you want to. Some people, mute the phone and then get on with their work just as if they werent required but was forced to do so because its a ritual that all and sundry are required.
Dragging the call just to explain his or her thought carefully ensures that the call has gone on for longer than required. Well it aches... hours of sitting and listening without being able to contribute much where extravagant speakers boast of nothings and emphasize about hollows.
In a day attending lots of these calls will easily provide for a manday and thus a productive concall day. At the end of it all, the appointed scribe will have jotted down points to be later issued as minutes of the meeting.
